Former Russian President Says Dollar Will Lose To Digital Currencies In 2023

The former head of state of Russia recently predicted that the US dollar would lose its status as the global reserve currency and digital fiat currencies will take the lead instead.

Dmitry Medvedev posted a series of tweets sharing his two cents about what he believes will happen in the coming year.

He said that they were his contribution to the ‘wild predictions’ that will be made ahead of the New Year.

The predictions

Between two of the presidential terms of Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Medvedev had been at the helm of Russia for a period of two years.

He predicted that the next year will see the collapse of the Bretton Woods monetary system, which would cause the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund to crash.

He went on to say that both the US dollar and euro will lose their status as the global reserve currencies because people will actively begin to use digital fiat currencies.

He further said on social media that all financial activity and the biggest stock markets will move to Asia and leave Europe and the United States.

Humorous tone

Medvedev took a humorous tone to share a series of posts this week, as she shared his predictions about what he thinks will happen in the coming year.

He said that everyone makes predictions at the end of the year and a lot of people come up with future hypotheses.

The head of the United Russia party said that everyone makes some wild and absurd predictions about the coming year and he was just making his own humble contribution as well.

He did not just limit his predictions to currencies, but also talked about other assets.

Wild predictions

He forecast that the price of natural gas would rise to a whopping $5,000, while oil prices will touch $150 per barrel.

He also said that the UK would join the European Union once more, but the bloc would collapse after, due to which the euro will no longer be used.

He added that Germany and France would clash against one another once Europe is divided, while Western Ukraine will be occupied by Poland and Hungary.

Medvedev, who is now the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, said that California would become an independent state, while Texas would form an alliance with Mexico after leaving the US.

He also predicted that once the new Civil War comes to an end, the winner of the presidential election in many states would be Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla.

Serving as the Prime Minister of Russia between 2012 and 2020, Medvedev is considered as more liberal as compared to Vladimir Putin.

The Russian government official has become very active on social media since February when Russia attacked Ukraine.

A number of Western sanctions have been imposed on the country since then he has repeatedly said that foreign assets may be nationalized in response to the penalties.

Meanwhile, Russian authorities have also been working on developing a regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies and other digital assets.
